Robert has two decades of extensive experience in HR analytics. He’s able to manipulate very large databases in ways that generate fresh and credible decision models, using Excel, Cognos, SPSS, SAS and other software. Through his applied psychology knowledge and qualifications, he also ensures that psychometrics and staff profiling are included in employee decision-making, where data is available or can be derived.

Amongst his key achievements, Robert has developed:

  • “Tipping points” retention modelling: Applied to 3,000 Relationship Managers in financial services. Used longitudinal data over past five years on staff performance and reward to predict best returns on staff retention and up-selling. Generated a customised database that quickly and effectively led to re-structuring bonus payments and increased retention of talent

  • People Investment Modelling of revenue generating v cost generating staff ratio. Reviewed cost base of 80,000 staff across 19 countries, identifying the cost ratio of front- line, customer impacting staff, to back office, employee-managing staff. Led to a strategic understanding of the cost imbalances between revenue-generating areas

  • Using psychometrics to identify leadership staff: Designed and deployed a personnel planning systems and psychological training for 750 staff, based on psychometric profiling using the HAD index (Anxiety and Depression index). Simultaneously, created a customised ‘Contact Hours’ database, tracking hours where staff could impact others effectiveness

Robert has a PhD in Applied Psychology, with statistics, from the University of St Andrews, Scotland and has been a Hong Kong resident for more than 20 years.
